Notes:
True that it’s another superbly designed release from Raster Noton – the only trouble is, i found this album to be little more than a triumph of style over content, which increasingly seems to be the case with this label…
I’ve yet to see this in person, but I’m wondering how the front of the album is printed? Metallic inks? Foil stamping? Sticker?
Hello Simon, I disagree about the quality. I’m finding this a fascinating, playful release.
Hello Peter, given the nature of this website I’m woefully ignorant of processes! I’ll take a flying guess at foil stamping. It’s definitely embossed and the gold is metallic and shiny. There’s no sticker. It’s very impressive and the approach (paper stock, booklet, attention to typography) remind me somewhat of the design of John Fahey’s Red Cross, Disciple of Christ.
I just picked this up at my local store. It is definitely lovely (-looking, anyway. I haven’t listened yet). I find it interesting you chose not to document how the CD actually comes out of the package—perhaps I’m not pulling hard enough but here the bottom pops just partially out like a little cardboard drawer, exposing the CD and booklet.
Hello pbing, I didn’t document that as it’s the same design as the Senking/List, previously featured, though it would have been useful to add a link I guess.
Oh, that makes perfect sense, then. Carry on, don’t mind me … ;)
