The artwork is more or less all right, but the prints inside it are REALLY disappointing – the paper they are printed on is soooo lame…:(

i wish they’d kept the original artwork for the sleeves. perhaps textless or whatever, but had each one as its own thing AS WELL as being part of the box (conceptually and physically).

The minimalism of the design was surely deliberate, there to provide a sense of cohesion to the gathered music. That’s also part of the Kompakt approach/brand.

Probably a good move Justin. The only real difference I noticed was on “Gas” where the first track was edited a bit. Beyond that, yeah, the minimal remastering was fantastic and true to the originals (hooray for no more Gas FLAC files).

I felt the packaging was a bit too minimal, with no indication of which album is which on the sleeves. However I love the blue/greens and I think it will date well. I am now happy that I’ve been beaten on a number of occasions in eBay battles to get hold of the originals – this boxset has saved me a fair bit of money.

To be honest I felt a bit underwhelmed by the packaging. Maybe it’s because I feel Mr Voigt makes far better music than he does graphic design/art…
