Notes Money Will Ruin Everything 2 is a lovely object, a book, a double CD album, a poster, a set of reflections, visual essays, photographs and memories. The poster wraps around the outside of the book like a shrunken dust cover, its folds ensnare the two compilation CDs, one in the front, one in the back. The folder is an essay as well.

Unlike the long out of print first Money Will Ruin Everything, this edition is still available (for only 399 Norwegian Kronor!) from the Rune Grammofon website.

Thanks a lot to Gabes for helping me out.

  1. Great post! Seems like Rune still have a few copies of the first book for sale (they found some left overs I believe) for 499 NOK. http://www.runegrammofon.com/artists/various/rcd-2032—various-money-will-ruin-everything-very-few-copie

  3. Thanks indeed for pointing out the remaining copies of the first edition – picked one up right away after reading that! Both arrived today and they are incredibly slick – worth every penny.

  5. i have the first edition of the book, do you think it’s worth buying the second one as well? besides the poster are the contents (visual and written) very different between the two editions? on a side note, if you can find it i reccomend you to grab a copy of kim hiortoy’s book “tree weekend”, published in 2000 – quite amazing.

  6. Sorry for the delay in replying Lorenzo. The contents aren’t very different. However, I’m pleased to own both versions. They are rather special. I’ll check out the Hiorthoy book, I was aware of it, but haven’t actually seen a copy to peruse.

  7. i have both editions and think the first still wins out. hiorthøy complains he felt hemmed in by the RG typeface etc. the second book lacks, how can i put it, restraint… the interviews in the smaller green pages (not shown above) is frankly ugly, and while employed in a novel way, i’m not a fan of foldout posters in any release. that said, his scrapbook style, the RG covers themselves (including the 2 cds with this set) still make this a very worthwhile object.
