Notes | 2007, 2009, 2010 – the years pass and sometimes we see Richard Skelton’s work and it’s always a pleasure when we do. Pared down to the essential, each piece of work is unmistakably the result of great care, fine judgement and a striking discipline. Such minimalism makes the work a challenge to do justice to, which I fear I haven’t. Note the difference in colour from image to image. Richard wrote in an email of his desire for the silver text on grey background to be almost invisible from certain angles, but for it to leap out when it catches the light. This approach was inspired by the effect of water on grey limestone in the Burren where the music was recorded. |
