Great site, followed it regularly since I stumbled across it somehow. Noting your recent comments following site improvements. I bought this on the strength of seeing it here. Other items have caused me to return to labels such as Dust to Digital, Ai etc. New introductions – thanks – include Celer and Dynamaphone. Sadly some of the things you feature are long gone. If nothing else it has increased my wants list.

Have you seen the Napthaline album fron EZ3kial? More in the Snow Patrol realm of digital packaging in that the album features a CD ROM with various scenes allowing you to play with samples etc. The concept is all very Jules Verne/ Edwardian scientific instruments. Beautiful.

I wanted to comment about fancy packaging like this and some of the other releases featured on this website. In my opinion as a label curator, I wish other labels/designers would remember that the number one point of CD/DVD packaging is to house and PROTECT the disc. While so much time, effort and money goes into realizing this kind of project, it seems that protecting the disc is completely forgotten. This (sadly common) oversight becomes glaringly apparent when the item is shipped and the disc(s) arrive at their destination in damaged condition. For what one pays for an item like this, the issue is not one to be taken lightly. In the case of this particular release, using a hub on the underside of the box lid was in poor judgment because the extra DVD jostles off the hub and slides around and gets scratched (on the hub no less) during shipping. Same thing goes for the two CDs in the folder. Using two slits to hold the CDs is fanciful, but highly impractical because they too slide around inside the box during shipping. As such, my copy of the release arrived with all the discs loose inside the box and in scratched condition. So, my point is that no matter how fancy the packaging is, it fails on a fundamental level if it doesn’t do what it’s really supposed to do.
